Mahale mountains National Park is one of the only two protected areas for chimpanzees and lies on the eastern shores of Lake Tanganyika.
It harbors the largest known population of eastern chimpanzees. The Park must be experienced by foot since there are no roads or other infrastructures within the park boundaries. The only way inside and outside the park is by a boat.
