Gombe National Park

Gombe National Park is a protected area along the hills of the eastern part of Lake Tanganyika.

The area is distinguished by steep valleys, vegetation ranges from grassland to woodland to rainforest. The Park is only accessible by boat and its major attraction is the chimpanzees that live within its boundaries. It is also known as the area where Jane Goodall conducted her behavioral research on chimpanzees. Besides from chimpanzees, visitors also get to see leopards, hippos, snakes, bushpigs, monkeys as well as various bird species.
