Kigali Genocide Museum

The Kigali genocide memorial is a significant museum in Kigali that documents the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi people.

The museum includes human remains, the tools and weapons used during the destruction as well as the history of Rwanda before the event. After the genocide against the Tutsi was stopped by the RPF in 1994, Kigali’s authorities chose the hillside in Gisozi for mass graves where 250000 people murdered during the genocide could be laid to rest. Memorial buildings were built beside the graves. The museum documents the genocide including human remains, the tools and weapons used during the destruction as well as the history of Rwanda before the event
