Samburu National Reserve

Samburu National Reserve is renowned for a rare and unique phenomenon where a lonely lioness “Kamunyak” adopted 5 Oryx calves.

The presence of Ewaso Nyiro river that runs through the park, grassland vegetation, and riverine forest attracts wildlife. Therefor there is a wide variety of birds and animals in the reserve including the black rhinoceros’ population which has been re-introduced into the park. The river also contains large number of Nile crocodiles. Samburu National reserve has 350 species of birds and is the best place for bird watching. Mount Koitogor and Ololokwe are clearly visible from the park and visitors can go for hiking.
