It is home to elephants and other large mammals, and was one of the last places in northern Kenya to have wild black rhinos.
Walking safaris and mountain hiking are primary activities compared to vehicle safaris. Visitors also get to experience cultural interactions with visits to the singing wells. Matthew range is surrounded by Ndoto mountains to the east and Karisia Hills to the west.
